• KE2 Therm Technology - Continuous electronic monitoring of all cooler and freezer systems is employed. This cutting-edge technology allows for instant notification of any change in temperature parameters and/or mechanical issue with cooling equipment.
• Biometric Access Control - Food defense and its importance to customers can’t be overstated. Our biometric access control ensures that only authorized persons can move throughout the warehouse distribution facility and office/training center.
• SINE - Visitors, contractors, and truck drivers are required to electronically sign-in into secured areas, get photo identification badges and be escorted throughout the facility as necessary.
ELD (Electronic Logging Devices)
Trucks are fitted with ELD units continually reading metrics including location, route, temperature, and engine/refer diagnostics. We know when your products and delivery will arrive. We can communicate with drivers throughout the route and notify customers of any delays in expected arrival of products.
In 2000, Ole Tyme became a member of PRO*ACT, a network of world-class, independent, regional produce and fresh food companies with over 70 distribution centers across the country and over 90% major market coverage. Our membership gives our customers access to in-demand, quality produce, contract pricing, market conditions information affecting supply, food safety management system during product recalls and withdrawals, and the continuous improvement in process and procedure from share grouping. PRO*ACT’s food safety management system is fully automated and provides real time electronic reporting in a food safety event. Through our participation in PRO*ACT, Ole Tyme is best-positioned to provide our customers with produce and fresh foods they need when weather is bad, labor is short, trucks are scarce, or other issues arising that affect the supply chain. PRO*ACT’s strict requirements for membership, assure our customers the quality of their produce and fresh foods is the highest throughout every step of delivery.
St. Louis, Missouri
Joseph and Louise Daleo opened Ole Tyme Produce in November 1973 in a converted two bay filling station in St. Louis County. Like his parents, Sam and Rose Daleo, and his uncle, Peter Daleo, who had operated retail and wholesale produce companies, Joe was focused on quality fresh produce and service to customers. His standards were high. Joe hand-picked all the fruits and vegetables for sale in the small store. Joe and Louise knew all their customers by name. His reputation grew in the surrounding neighborhoods, and just months after opening the retail store, customers requested that Joe deliver products to their schools, restaurants, and catering operations. Ole Tyme Produce grew into a wholesale company with a retail location. In 1983, Joe and Louise closed the retail store and relocated the company to historic Produce Row in north St. Louis City. The company originally occupied two “units” on Produce Row, but later purchased units of both sides, operating out of 6 units from 1988 to 1998. In 2001, Joan Daleo, became President of the company building upon the original foundation of integrity, excellence and quality and establishing a vision for the next generation. In August of 2016, the company moved into its current location in St. Charles County after years of careful design and planning. The custom built from the ground-up facility with its red brick exterior highlights the companies St. Louis heritage with state-of-the-art technology to lead the company into next 50 years of fresh food distribution.
