The Safe Quality Food program (SQF) is a food safety management system with rigorous standards based on scientific principle that are consistently applied across all food service industry sectors. The Safe Quality Food program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is the only food safety program that integrates a quality component as well as strict food safety guidelines. Through the Food Marketing Institute, SQF standards are continually reviewed and updated based on industry feedback.

Ole Tyme Produce achieved SQF level 2 certification and received a score of 98% (Excellent) on its first audit in March 2017. Ole Tyme Produce, Inc. food handlers are required to meet the strictest hygiene, sanitation, cleanliness and food handling requirements to ensure product safety and quality. Ole Tyme has developed and maintains a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Plan or HACCP plan that is specifically tailored to each step in its individual food handling process. Pursuing an SQF certification is not required by the industry and Ole Tyme Produce Inc. voluntarily complies with Safe Quality Foods standards to ensure high product quality and the foremost food safety practices within the produce distribution industry. This certification, along with preventative controls, meets all Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements for fresh food distributors as of September 2017.
