About Us

Nearly 50 Years

That’s how long we’ve been handling and selling fresh produce and products to customers in St. Louis and the surrounding communities.

What do we do?

We are a fresh food company and local, fresh food distributor.
We manage fresh produce and products from the fields to the kitchens of restaurants, hotels, caterers, clubs, casinos, hospitals, and schools where it is prepared, cooked and served.

Our customers need fresh produce and products to prepare unique delicious food. Ole Tyme Produce sources the best produce from local growers and producers, as well as, from our nationwide network, PRO*ACT, ensuring quality and reliability of our produce from farm to table. At Ole Tyme Produce, we don’t grow or create the food. We source and deliver the world’s finest fresh grown or made products. Customers entrust us to be careful stewards of fresh products. It’s an important trust. A trust we earn every day.

Quality and reliability are key to our customers’ success. We view our customers as partners. Our customers view us as an extension of their own operation. Ole Tyme prides itself on pushing the boundary to ensure the freshest quality food products for our customers. We invite you to tour our distribution warehouse and office/training facility at your convenience.

How do we deliver our promise and commitment to customers?

Premium Brands
Together with PRO*ACT, our company sources from growers whose long track record speaks volumes about their commitment to quality and sustainability. These growers are represented on the exterior of our trucks including Driscolls, Dole, D’Arrigo Brothers, Taylor Farms, Rainier, and Basciani Foods.

SQF Certification
Safe Quality Food may seem simple but it’s a daily commitment to high standards—that’s the bottom line. Ole Tyme Produce has attained the highest industry certification in food safety. SQF certification requires rigorous procedures and processes that are documented and verified daily. Ole Tyme Produce employs NSF Certification LLC, the gold standard in auditing and verification. Ole Tyme Produce has received consecutive excellent scores.

State of the Art Distribution Facility
Nothing better reflects commitment to quality, reliability, and sustainability, than building a facility designed specifically for fresh food distribution with the latest building materials and technologies — stewarding fresh products on behalf of customers.

• KE2 Therm Technology - Continuous electronic monitoring of all cooler and freezer systems is employed. This cutting-edge technology allows for instant notification of any change in temperature parameters and/or mechanical issue with cooling equipment.

• Biometric Access Control - Food defense and its importance to customers can’t be overstated. Our biometric access control ensures that only authorized persons can move throughout the warehouse distribution facility and office/training center.

• SINE - Visitors, contractors, and truck drivers are required to electronically sign-in into secured areas, get photo identification badges and be escorted throughout the facility as necessary.

ELD (Electronic Logging Devices)
Trucks are fitted with ELD units continually reading metrics including location, route, temperature, and engine/refer diagnostics. We know when your products and delivery will arrive. We can communicate with drivers throughout the route and notify customers of any delays in expected arrival of products.

Our History

St. Louis, Missouri
Joseph and Louise Daleo opened Ole Tyme Produce in November 1973 in a converted two bay filling station in St. LouisCounty. Like his parents, Sam and Rose Daleo, and his uncle, Peter Daleo, who had operated retail and wholesale produce companies, Joe was focused on quality fresh produce and service to customers. His standards were high. Joe hand-picked all the fruits and vegetables for sale in the small store. Joe and Louise knew all their customers by name. His reputation grew in the surrounding neighborhoods, and just months after opening the retail store, customers requested that Joe deliver products to their schools, restaurants, and catering operations. Ole Tyme Produce grew into a wholesale company with a retail location. In 1983, Joe and Louise closed the retail store and relocated the company to historic Produce Row in north St. Louis City. The company originally occupied two “units” on Produce Row, but later purchased units of both sides, operating out of 6 units from 1988 to 1998. In 2001, Joan Daleo, became President of the company building upon the original foundation of integrity, excellence and quality and establishing a vision for the next generation. In August of 2016, the company moved into its current location in St. Charles County after years of careful design and planning. The custom built from the ground-up facility with its red brick exterior highlights the companies St. Louis heritage with state-of-the-art technology to lead the company into next 50 years of fresh food distribution.
