Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Asparagus supply is tightening as the Caborca, Mexico season winds down and Peruvian production has not yet increased enough to offset the transition. While standard sizes are expected to remain relatively available in the near term, larger sizes (Large and above) are extremely constrained, currently estimated at only 50–60% of normal availability.
Historically, Caborca provides strong volume across standard through jumbo sizes. In contrast, Peruvian production is heavily weighted toward small and standard sizes, with limited output of larger calibers. This size disparity, coupled with strong demand, is keeping the market elevated.
We expect higher pricing and continued supply tightness over the next 3–4 weeks, until Peruvian volumes increase and additional supply begins to arrive from California’s Central Valley.
We will continue to monitor market conditions closely and share updates as the situation develops.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
Thanks,
Ole Tyme Produce
