Brussel Sprouts and Celery
Brussel Sprouts and Celery
Wed, Nov 19th, 2025
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Oxnard, the primary growing region for both Brussels sprouts and celery, is receiving ongoing rainfall through Monday. This weather system is already affecting fields and is expected to further impact yields, quality, and availability over the next couple of weeks.
Brussels Sprouts
Recent and forecasted rain has significantly worsened field conditions, creating multiple quality concerns, including:
- Internal and external decay
- Insect pressure
- Water-soaked sprouts and breakdown in bags
Shippers are working to select the best product available, but usable volume is becoming increasingly limited. Supplies are currently holding near 10-week averages, with additional prorates expected as needed. Limited harvest days next week will add further strain. Mexico’s crop is expected to begin contributing in mid-December, which should help stabilize supply.
Celery
Rain in the Oxnard region will tighten supplies and may impact quality as growers work through wet fields. Expect adjustments to volume as shippers monitor daily conditions.
What to Expect
- Tighter supplies over the next 1–2 weeks
- Ongoing quality challenges due to weather
- Potential prorates and limited availability
- Improvement anticipated once fields dry out and Mexico begins harvesting Brussels sprouts

Thanks,
