Carrot Market Update
Carrot Market Update
Thurs, Sept 17th, 2026
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
The California carrot market is currently in a good position, with solid supply, good quality, and favorable yields. Production is currently coming out of the Cuyama Valley and Salinas Valley, with the summer crop expected to remain in these areas through mid-to-late October before transitioning back to the Bakersfield area for the fall/winter crop.
Overall, quality has been strong, and suppliers are in a good position to support both current business and additional opportunities. If you have new business, promotions, or additional volume needs, please let us know, and we will be happy to work on options.
SNACKING & RETAIL PACKS
- With schools back in session, demand for snacking items is picking up. There is good availability on a variety of baby carrot and retail snack packs, and suppliers are looking for opportunities to expand volume in this category.
FOODSERVICE
There is also good availability across many of the core foodservice packs, including:
- Baby carrots
- Cellos
- Jumbos
- Peeled/chunk carrots
- Various 1 lb, 2 lb, 5 lb and 25 lb packs
MINNESOTA PRODUCTION
- Additional production is currently running through the Minnesota region, with that program expected to continue through the end of November.
- Select baby, cello, jumbo and peeled carrot SKUs are available from this facility, providing another option for customers looking for additional supply.
ORDER LEAD TIMES
- Advance notice is especially important on snack items and products requiring additional transfers. Whenever possible, we recommend providing 48 hours of business-day notice on snack items and up to 72 hours for specialty products to help ensure production and loading can stay ahead of demand.
- Overall, the carrot market is in a strong position with good quality and availability.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
