Iceberg & Romaine/Romaine Hearts

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Supplies of Romaine and Romaine Hearts remain extremely tight across the industry, with most shippers limiting availability to contract averages in order to cover existing commitments. Open-market opportunities continue to be very limited, and current field conditions suggest supplies will remain challenged for at least the next two weeks, with the potential for a longer recovery period. Recent rain and continued cool weather in the Salinas Valley have further impacted harvest schedules, slowed growth, and reduced overall yields. These conditions are adding pressure to an already undersupplied market and limiting production volume throughout the Salinas Valley.

Iceberg lettuce supplies have also shortened considerably. Cooler temperatures, recent rainfall, and harvest disruptions have tightened availability, while extremely limited Romaine and Romaine Heart supplies have shifted additional demand to Iceberg. As a result, Iceberg markets continue to strengthen and are expected to remain active as supply challenges persist.

We anticipate continued supply shortages, elevated markets, and reduced order flexibility in the weeks ahead. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as the situation develops.
