Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

We are currently seeing some quality concerns in Romaine and Romaine Hearts related to the recent heat wave. Fields that experienced high temperatures immediately prior to harvest are showing light brown to pinkish streaking along the thick inner ribs/midribs.

This is a physiological stress response caused by pre-harvest heat exposure and can become more noticeable after harvest and cooling. Suppliers are monitoring fields closely and increasing attention to quality at harvest and packing. We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any significant changes as they develop.
