Weather Update
Fri, June 27th, 2025
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
- Eastern Pacific & Gulf of Mexico: Two tropical systems are developing and expected to bring heavy rain to Southern and Central Mexico into next week.
- Current Crop Damage: Previous storms already caused significant damage to iceberg, romaine, and broccoli fields; more crops are at risk.
- U.S. East & Southeast: Recent record heat and prior heavy rains have negatively affected crop production.
- California Coastal Regions: Persistent cool, damp conditions are:
- Slowing crop growth
- Increasing mold, mildew, and soil disease
- Boosting insect pressure, particularly from diamondback moths damaging Cole crops (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.)
- Slowing crop growth
Outlook: Continued weather challenges are expected to impact yields and quality across multiple growing regions. Ongoing monitoring will be necessary as conditions evolve.
