Berry Update
Berry Update

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
The significant rainfall experienced last week continues to impact harvest operations throughout California. Heavy rains across both Oxnard and Santa Maria have prevented many growers from accessing their fields since last week, and some were unable to re-enter over the weekend to complete necessary field maintenance and harvesting activities.
Recovery from this weather event is not immediate. While forecasted weather conditions are more favorable over the coming days, the effects of last week's rain will continue to impact production throughout this week and likely into next week as well.
As a result, customers should anticipate ongoing prorates and potential order reductions, as California production will not be able to rebound quickly enough to restore normal supply levels. We have now exhausted much of the fruit harvested prior to the rain event, and current field conditions continue to limit harvest opportunities.
In addition, the impact of the weather extends beyond strawberries. Blackberry and raspberry production has also been affected, resulting in reduced harvest volumes and tighter supplies across the berry category.
Also, experiencing issues beyond weather in Mexico with a farmer’s strike expected to start today. They expect that this will cause some delays in the ability for many of their transfers to reach the border easily and on time.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
Thanks,
Ole Tyme Produce
