Berry Market

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

STRAWBERRIES

Salinas/Watsonville: We are seeing very light demand for strawberries this week. Much of the retail fruit order allocation is being directed toward stone fruit items coming in from California's Central Valley. The foodservice sector remains quiet as we wait for school business to come back online in mid-August.

Santa Maria: This area is beginning to show improved production numbers. This trend should continue over the next several weeks and into September.

Quality has been fair as nighttime temperatures continue to approach 60°F. These conditions do not allow the fruit to rest properly, resulting in smaller, fully ripe berries and increased bruising issues.

BLUEBERRIES

There is still good volume coming from Oregon and Washington. Michigan is expected to increase production over the next several weeks. New Jersey continues to produce limited volumes while dealing with quality challenges.

Markets are trending steady.

BLACKBERRIES

We are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Some shippers with larger footprints in Central Mexico are reporting increased production, while most others are still waiting for their fields to ramp up. We should begin to see some relief during the first week of August as supplies increase from Mexico, Oregon, and California's Central Coast.

RASPBERRIES

Volumes are increasing for most suppliers. Additional fruit is becoming available from Baja and Central Mexico.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.

Thanks,
