Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Lime availability is tightening as Mexico transitions crops under challenging weather conditions. Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead:
Mexico
- Heavy rainfall is delaying the new harvest until mid-to-late September, impacting yields and quality.
- Expect issues like oil spotting, skin breakdown, and lighter peel color.
- Larger fruit (110 ct) is scarce; mid-sizes (175–200 ct) are more common, while smaller fruit (230–250 ct) is also limited due to sizing shifts.
- Border crossings are down, and overall volume is tight—driving prices up, especially for premium small fruit.
Colombia
- Consistent supply available in Florida.
- Balanced sizing between 110 ct and 250 ct.
- Quality is strong, with smooth skins and only light blemishes.
What to Expect
- Active markets through September as we await new crop fruit.
- Flexibility in sizing.
- Pricing remains firm, especially for high-quality, smaller fruit.
